Gateway hotel or remote Delta camp?

Two different bookings, two very different logistics plans.

Two different kinds of base

Maun hotels provide an arrival, departure or town-based stay. A remote Okavango camp is a different product with its own transport and activity arrangements. The use of lodge or safari in a hotel name does not establish remoteness, guiding or an inclusive package. Our opening collection focuses on Maun and Kasane gateway accommodation.

02 / FIELD NOTES

Draw the whole transfer chain

Write down the arrival airport, the hotel, the onward meeting point and the remote stay separately. Ask who is responsible for every transfer and what happens if an arrival changes. Where a flight or specialist transfer is involved, obtain current baggage and timing instructions from the actual operator. Do not assume an ordinary hotel booking includes that onward leg.

03 / FIELD NOTES

Use the gateway night deliberately

Consider whether you need a night before departure, a place to store luggage or a buffer after returning. Confirm storage and early or late arrival arrangements with the hotel. Choose the property against your confirmed pickup point rather than a general city label. Cresta Maun and Cresta Riley's, for example, are different hotels.

Compare inclusions on paper

List accommodation, meals, guiding, park activities, transfers and any separately payable fees. A hotel rate and a camp package cannot be compared by the nightly headline alone. Ask for the actual inclusions for your dates and party, then compare cancellation and change arrangements for each separately booked part.
